Morning Routine Made Easy for Kids and Adults

I’ve been looking for ways to simplify my life, starting out with our morning routine. Is it just me or do you have to rush around like a chicken with its head cut off (and, yes, they really run around after their heads are cut off )  in the morning getting the kids ready for school and yourself ready for the day? My husband leaves before the sun wakes up in the morning on most days so I’m solely responsible for getting the girls ready for the school day and myself ready for the workday. I don’t mind it, but sometimes it can be stressful.  Happy Tot Super Morning Bowls are helping make our morning routine easier around here!

The first thing I’ve figured out is there are a lot of things you can do the night before to prep for a good less stressful and smooth morning!

Morning Routine

Night Time Prep

Bath time routine
Baths & Showers at night. Giving the kids’ baths at night is a given but you can shower at night too. I personally like to take showers in the morning to help myself wake up but if I know I have an early meeting or we have to be out of the house extra early I’ll take a shower in the evening.
Pick clothes out ahead of time. Take a look at the predicted weather and chose your own clothes out at night. I let my kids pick their clothes out at night and have them lay them out neatly on their toy chest so they can start getting themselves dressed with less fuss. If I choose my clothes out the night before I always end up with an outfit that is much more put together then the usual workout clothes I end up in half the time. My husband even picks his clothes out at night for the next day (but that might be because he wakes up at 4 am and can’t see).
Make lunch at night. This one saves so much time in the morning! If everything is prepacked in the fridge ahead of time and all you have to do is add an ice pack to the lunch box life is so much easier! I need to take my own advice and do this more often!
Pack Backpacks and leave them by the door ready to grab on the way out of the house.

In The Morning

Get dressed and ready before heading to the kitchen for breakfast.
Don’t turn on the TV! It just slows everything down!

Easy Toddler Breakfast
Easy Breakfast for the littles. Keeping things easy is key! Happy Tot Super Morning Bowls are a great new option for toddlers and all you have to do is open the package, you can warm it up a little too if your little one likes it better that way. Morning Bowls have 0g of added sugar, are gluten free, which is important in our family, and are full of textures and flavors for your little
one.
Breakfast for you. Try crock pot breakfasts you can turn on the night before (this should probably go into the evening prep category) and then you can quickly clean the crock pot and stick your dinner recipe in so it’s ready when you get home from work. I daydream of breakfast and dinner being magically made for me and I think this could be a great solution, but in all transparency, I have not tried it yet!
Coffee. Always coffee.

Enjoy your day! I hope these tips help you and your family have a smooth start to your mornings! Do you have any tips that make your morning routine easier? I’d love to hear them!

Night time prep is SUCH an important part of making the mornings smoother! I always set breakfast out the night before so it’s ready to go asap!
