7 Ways To Conquer Summer as a Work from Home Mom

School is out for the summer which means as a work from home mom life just got little more chaotic! Don’t get me wrong, I love every second with my girls but I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say sometimes they drive me crazy! Here are some ways I’ve found to be helpful to keep myself sain during summer break.

Start The Day With a Workout

Try this out. Start your day with a mini workout at home if you can’t get to the gym. A few stretches, pushups, and crunches will do the trick, or get out a jump rope to get your blood flowing. It’s amazing how much better you feel starting the day off this way. Sometimes I only have 5 minutes in the morning but that’s all it takes!

Wake Up Before the Kids

I’ve been trying to wake up early to get started on my daily responsibilities. Whether its answering emails or getting the laundry started before the kids wake up. An hour of quiet is a magical thing!

Get Out of The House

If you can get out of the house after a few hours of work and let your kids run free for an hour or two it is sooooo helpful! A quick trip to the park, lunch, even the grocery store works so you and your little ones don’t go stir crazy.

Bribery is Your Best Freind

I hate to say it but it’s true. I’m constantly bribing my kids BUT not with candy. “If you two don’t argue for an hour I’ll pull out the paint for you.” or “If you are good I’ll take you to the park later.” It works for us! Positive reinforcement is also huge in our house.

Plan Play Dates

Kid swap anyone? I’ll watch yours for a couple hours if you’ll watch mine for a couple hours… and in reality, when we have other kids over 90% of the time it’s easier because they entertain each other!

Unplug

After your workday is through, put your phone in the other room with your computer and any other device that might notify you there are tasks to be done for at least 30 minutes. For me, this is imperative, if I don’t do it I won’t stop working.

End the Day with an Evening Walk

It’s the perfect way for everyone to wind down before bedtime.
