14 Days of Pink :: Not Just For Littles

The month of February leading up to Valentine’s Day means 14 days of pink and all things girly… I’m a girl mom after all! So this month we embrace the pink!

I was one of those pregnant women that were anti-pink when I found out I was having a girl. I’m not sure what it was, I had it in my head I was going to have a boy first, maybe that was it… now having 2 princesses, I wouldn’t have it any other way! My four-year-old, Piper, is just about as girly as it gets. She loves sparkles, sprinkles, unicorns, rainbows, playing dress-up, and all things purple, but this month it’s all about the pink! and by pink, I mean love not just the color…

I’ve put together a list of 14 things to do in the spirit of Valentine’s Day celebrating pink!

1. Pink Hair!

I was with the girls on a wild Friday night walking through Target, I told you it was wild and randomly found light pink temporary hair color. It was a total impulse buy but I had to have it! It washes out in 4-8 washes and only works on blonde hair so with nothing to lose I went for it! And I have to tell you I LOVE IT!!

2. Get Yourself Something Pretty.

Chokers are super trendy right now and they are pretty sexy. Check out Ettika.com for a huge selection of chokers. You can use code @aliajanel for 20% off your entire order. The one pictured above is Free People for Ettika. Go get yourself something pretty or give your love bug a little nudge and forward this post to him or her.

3. Wear a Tutu.

Tutus aren’t just for little girls in dance class. That’s right, you can pull off a tulle skirt if you try, and it’s not hard! Pair it with a simple black fitted top and some booties for an easy fun look. Find out how to wear a tutu here!

4. Cover It In Sprinkles.

P and I are allergic to Gluten (lame, I know, but we have no choice) we wanted to spice up our treats a bit and used Glutino Chocolate Vanilla Creme Cookies and Milk Chocolate Wafers to dip in melted white chocolate then covered them with sprinkles, added a stick for the perfect treat to share! They were pretty simple to make and put the biggest smile on my little P’s face, especially when she handed them to her cousins letting them each know she made them. Totally worth the sugar rush!! Yummm…White Chocolate & Sprinkle Dipped Cookie Pops!

5. Do Something Nice.

Bring a smile to a child’s face by heading to this link and send a free card to a child staying in the Children’s Hospital LA. It takes just a minute and for each card, BLVD Hotels has pledged to donate $1 to CHLA, up to $10,000! It made me feel good!

6. Date Your Husband.

Day dates are sometimes more fun than dinner dates. Go do something outside together to connect. Get active, go for a walk, play some bocci ball, or go snowboarding! And it doesn’t have to be on Valentine’s Day when everything is overpriced and crowded. Play hooky from work for a day while your little ones are at school perhaps?

7. Write a Letter.

Who is excited to check the mail anymore? If it wasn’t for packages I’d hate to get the mail each day. It’s always bills and junk mail. Send a letter to your sister, best friend, niece, mother, or grandmother, add some stickers and pictures to make the mailbox fun again!

8. Decorate a Small Space.

We bought this little $25 table and chairs from Ikea around Christmas time. We’ve had a great time using it as a little holiday corner putting streamers up and decorating with stuff from none other than the Target Dollar section. We spent under $5 on this decor and made a perfect Valentine’s play corner in Piper’s room with Pottery Barn inspired love letter chair bags, only way more affordable!

9. Spread a Little Love.

dsc_0684We have a fun tradition in our house. My girls and I put together a few small treat bags and secretly drop them on some of our friends’ doorsteps to spread a little love. You can read more about it HERE plus there is a little giveaway with Yum Earth where you could win some organic candy.

10. Fill Your Home with Flowers.

No description needed here. Flowers brighten up any room! But these flowers from Farm Girl Flowers might just be my favorite ever!

11. At Home Date Night.

If you have littles put them to bed a little early. Dress up like you’re going out and eat dinner by candlelight, have a decadent dessert, and talk until you can’t talk anymore. Sometimes the best date nights are the ones at home.

12. Craft It Up with Kids.

For kids, there is no better excuse to make something than a holiday. Piper is making her entire preschool class pipe cleaner name bracelets for their Valentine’s Day party. They are so easy, fun and help her practice her letters and spelling. I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone we know gets one of these bracelets in the near future!

13. Heart-Shaped Everything You Can Eat.

You can turn just about everything into a heart shape these days! We’ve been loving our new Dash heart-shaped waffle maker.

14. Snuggle On A Rainy Day.

Saturday? Rain? Again? Stay home and stay in those cozy pj’s, grab a blanket, a cup of cocoa and snuggle up on the couch with a movie and your sweeties, kids, husband, dog, cat, all of them!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope your entire month is filled with love!
