Strawberry picking has been on my radar since I got into Instagram a few years ago. I’ve seen so many cute shots of little kids having the time of there life while picking strawberries, eating strawberries and just looking cute in strawberry fields. Is that silly? Maybe. BUT I was so so excited to find out there is strawberry picking in my neck of the woods! Thanks to my friend Penny {if you read this, seriously, thank you!}.
My husband wasn’t quite as excited as I was when I told him my plans to go pick strawberries on a Sunday morning. He thought it would be hot and uncomfortable bending down…as probably most husbands would. Lucky for us it was cool out first thing in the morning and he ended up liking it maybe even more then I did!
Of course, the girls loved it too! We only let them each eat 2 strawberries while they were picking since they grow in the dirt and all. It was a really fun family activity and I definitely recommend doing it!
The Details

When: May through June open 9 am-5 pm, seven days a week at
- check their website to make sure the berries are good before you go! They post an update daily.
What To Bring
Bring a bucket and a picnic or you can buy a sandwich in their deli. They have what feels like a mini town which includes an antique shop, market, apple juice factory, picking orchards and a pie shop with an outdoor picnic area. The avocado tree was loaded with avocados too which is always a fun addition to any journey in California.
Closed-toe shoes, it’s a dirt field and can get muddy. You might want to bring extra shoes and clothes too.
Don’t forget sunscreen.
Cash – to pay for the berries you picked. We picked way more then we needed because it was so fun! It was about $17 for our 3 full buckets. Not one berry went to waist they were ripe, juicy and delicious! They take credit cards too.
Other Pickings Available
We’ll definitely be back for a few of these pickings once they open up for each season!
- Apple Blossoms – April
- Strawberries – May through August
- Olallieberries – June
- Boysenberries – Mid June
- Apples – Late August through January
- Holiday Pies – November and December

June 11, 2018 at 11:32 amCalifornia strawberries are my absolute favorite. They are so big, red, and juicy! We have U-pick strawberry fields here in Michigan too, but I haven’t tried any of them yet. I did go strawberry picking in Irvine, California, while road tripping up the Pacific coast though. It was a fun way to spend an hour, and the strawberries were great for breakfast the next day. Looks like you had fun on your strawberry-picking adventure, too!

June 12, 2018 at 7:30 amLook at how big those strawberries are! I don’t think I have ever seen strawberries big enough to fit the palm of your hand. What a great activity to do with kids. I’d even love to do that for date night.
