Are you bored with the Stay at Home Order? Here are some things to keep the boredom away and productive things to do at home for adults you may not have thought of.
Let’s face it, not everyone is in the same situation with the lockdown across the world right now. Personally my life has become a little more chaotic and much busier. I am incredibly lucky I am still employed and I already worked at home. I can’t help but have tiny moments of envy of the boredom some of my friends are experiencing. I’ll emphasize TINY.
These are all things on my someday I’ll accomplish list:
Staying Busy at Home A list of Productive Boredom Busters for Adults
Photos Photos Photos
• Organize your photos! – Create albums and back them up. This is a daunting task that I seriously need to start! My phone has 35,000+ photos on it and I have 3 memory cards from my camera that need to be sorted through and backed up.
• Order Prints to update frames around the house.
• Try ChatBooks to make memory albums. They make the perfect coffee table books that the whole family will love to look through.
Organizing
A Drawer a Day – Don’t have an insane amount of time like some people? That’s me…I feel so much gratification when I accomplish something small. Hence, the drawer a day concept.
Spring Cleaning. Not too exciting washing base boards and cleaning under the refrigerator but it’ll feel good to check this kind of stuff off your list!
Unsubscribe from unwanted email lists. This is something you can do a couple times a week as the unwanted emails come in.
Put clothes you never wore or don’t wear anymore on PoshMark to make a little extra cash.
Start a donation pile to donate to your favorite charity once you can leave the house again.
Mix Things Up
Make some changes. Pick a room and change up the layout of your furniture. Play with change. Sometimes moving a few things around a little can make it feel like a whole new space.
Wallpaper a wall in your house. I’m starting small and in the process of updating my laundry room with some fun removable wallpaper. If I love it I’m going to tackle the girls room and playroom.
A Little Bit of Fun
Netflix or Amazon Prime – Everyone is looking for new shows to watch. I’m working on my list of shows worth watching with my sister. Let’s face it, time is usually very limited, I’m not a big tv person but sometimes you just need to veg out in front of the tv and turn off your brain for a while. I’ll come back and link it soon!
Set up an online happy hour with some friends or the family. Grab some coffee or a glass of wine and a snack and chat face to face. We’ve done some fun ones! My favorite so far was wearing something silly to make everyone laugh. Laughter is like magic for the soul. Zoom and Google Meet have both worked well for us.
Revisit an old hobby. Painting, sewing, gardening, running? What makes your heart sing?
Put together your list of dream destinations. One day this will all be over and it’ll be time to make your dreams come true. Costa Rica is the last place we were able to travel to. If you haven’t been there it should be on your list!
I hope you found some good ideas for productive things to do at home! Stay safe and well and make the most of this time if you can.
