We had the opportunity to take the girls to the 119th U.S. Open in Pebble Beach on Monday. Pebble Beach could possibly be the most beautiful place in California. Seriously! I have to tell you it was so much fun! The USGA did an amazing job collaborating with The First Tee and LPCA USGA Girls Golf to put together a great experience for juniors attending the event. It was hard to pull Piper and Kenzie away from all the activities!
A Junior Experience at USGA’s U.S. Open
The USGA thought of everything. From a coloring wall to golf instructions. The Junior Experience area had it all! Add coloring to any event my girls are sold. They even pick which restaurants they want to go to based on whether or not they have coloring available for them.
I’ll give you a little virtual tour here.
All of the activities, experiences, and crafts are free for all juniors attending the U.S. Open. This activation lasts the entire duration of the tournament which is a week-long. You walk into the junior experience tent hosted by The First Tee, to find a giant coloring wall…yep, the one my girls were obsessing over. Isn’t it so cute? The girls absolutely LOVED it!
There are a bunch of activities within the tent. The staff was all so friendly and our tour guide was great with the girls. A few of these activities were a little above Piper and Kenzie’s age range, like the chipping challenge and golf simulator. It was nice to see a range of activities for all juniors, not just the smaller kids. Both girls really enjoyed the indoor putting green with their dad and I always love watching them play together!
Getting Crafty with Golf Balls
Outside the tent is the LPCA Girls Golf tent where our girls got to decorate their own golf balls using special golf ball stencils and Sharpies. This is such a good idea for a golf themed party too if there are any golf loving kids in your life!
The stencil decorated golf balls turned out really cute. The LPCA Girls Golf tent has a prize wheel where you can win a special colored bracelet and even temporary tattoos in addition to the craft.
An instructor helped the girls learn a few golf skills on a golf course they had built as well. They have a long way to go but had a lot of fun trying golf out for the first time!
On The Course Scavenger Hunt
I told you they thought of everything. Once we pulled the girls away from the Junior Experience area they were still entertained by a scavenger hunt throughout the course of the day so Pat and I were able to enjoy the views, and watch some golfing, while they searched for items on their scavenger hunt list.
A little more about USGA, The First Tee, and LPGA USGA Girls Golf
The USGA provides a substantial amount of funding for both The First Tee and LPGA USGA Girls Golf. They are big supporters of both organizations which helps engage juniors across the country and of course at championships including the U.S. Open and Women’s U.S. Open. The USGA has provided more than 26 million dollars in grants to The First Tee, which was founded in 1997. These three organizations together put an amazing experience on for juniors, helping cultivate a love for golf at a young age. To learn more about the USGA visit usga.org
We were honored to be hosted at this event and had such a wonderful experience.
And I can’t leave you without sharing these views…
If you can ever make it out to Pebble Beach you really should! It is simply breathtaking.
