What to do with ALL THAT HALLOWEEN CANDY

Halloween has come and gone… so what is the question on every mom and dad’s mind right now?

“What in the world are we going to do with all this candy?!”

If you are like me you only let your kids have 1-2 pieces of candy max per day… if that! I end up eating way more than that…  So what do you do with the huge bag of Halloween candy that came home with them from school and then the additional bag from going door to door trick or treating, besides eating it yourself?

I asked around and searched Pinterest (yeah, I’m that mom) and here’s what I found:

Here’s what to do with all that Halloween Candy!

Donate Extra Candy to the Troops!

What better way to “get rid of” the candy than to give it to someone that would really enjoy it?! Here’s the address you can send any extra Halloween candy to and their Facebook page for more info!

Play The Switch Witch or Switcheroo Kangaroo!

The Switch Witch is a great way to have your kids limit the amount of candy they keep. They go through their candy and select what they are willing to part with. Then the Switch Witch comes in the night takes the candy and replaces it with a special something. Think toys, games, puzzles, books.

Switcheroo Kangaroo does the same thing, only you don’t have to specifically use him for Halloween Switches. You can purchase a book that explains the tradition to your kids and even get a cute little plush Kangaroo that comes to life to trade the candy for a prize. He’s pretty cute!

Sell it to the Dentist

Some dentists will buy your extra candy! Not sure what they do with it afterward but it isn’t your problem anymore if they buy it from your kids!  A mom from Piper’s school told me her kid’s dentist does this. I checked with ours and they don’t but it seems like a great idea!

Bring it to Work

Have a breakroom at work? I’m sure your colleges, especially the ones without kids would love to snack on some sweet treats during their breaks!

Repurpose All That Candy

Piñata It!

Have a birthday party coming up? Fill the Piñata with some of the candy!

Turn it Into a New Dessert Recipe

Here’s where Pinterest comes in major handy! Just search for “Left Over Candy” and a million recipes will come up. I started a board with some fun ideas, check it out HERE for some inspiration!

Chocolate bark, brownies, and cookies are the top favorites and probably the easiest. Or you can add it to a bowl of popcorn, but if your kids are like mine they’ll just pick out all the candy.

Chocolate Bark is my go to, I’m not much of a baker and this is easy enough that the girls can help too!

Decorate Gingerbread Houses

Using the candy for your holiday gingerbread houses is a fun idea!
