Where to stay in South Lake Tahoe :: The Ridge Tahoe Review

We just got back from South Lake Tahoe on Sunday and had the best time! Family vacations are amazing but if you don’t stay in the right place they can be miserable. I’ve had a few experiences where the hotel we ended up in was just not going to work out. This was NOT the case on our latest adventure. The Ridge Tahoe was the PERFECT spot for our little family of four and I’ll tell you why!

Our Room

We were set up in a one bedroom suite at The Ridge Tahoe with a full kitchen and a pullout couch. Having a kitchen was an added bonus and gave the hotel more of a cabin feel which is really nice when you are visiting the snow. We were able to eat breakfast in the room and heat up snacks throughout the day. Definitely a nice thing with young kids around who seem to eat nonstop. Having a bedroom with a door was also a great thing, Pat and I were able to close the door and hang out after the girls went to sleep without disturbing them. It’s never fun to go to bed at 8:00 with the kids while on vacation because you don’t want to wake them! And the VIEWS were probably my favorite part!

Hot Tubs & A Pool

The is nothing better than relaxing in a hot tub with the most beautiful views of snow covered mountains. Each building has it’s own hot tub inside and out with gorgeous views! There is a heated swimming pool as well, I have this thing where I won’t book a hotel unless it has a pool, even if I don’t plan on going swimming, I love having the option. Is that weird?

Access To Heavenly Mountain Resort

The Ridge Tahoe has a private tram on property that takes you right to the Stage Coach lift at Heavenly. If you are a skier or snowboarder you already know how much work it is to drive to a resort, find parking, and lug all your riding gear to the ticket window. The Ridge Tahoe has it all figured out with a free tram specifically for hotel guests that drops you off away from all the crowds it operates with your room key. It was so convenient! The girls and I used it as a lift to play in the snow and Pat used it for its actual purpose, snowboarding.

For The Kids

Activities anyone? There was no shortage of activities for the girls. Besides swimming, they have playgrounds throughout the property and a kids center where you can sign up and drop off your little ones for a 2 hour craft time as long as they are 3+ and fully potty trained. They also play movies nightly and have a tennis and racket ball court.

Spa

For the grownups a full-service spa. Talk about ultimate relaxation!

Dining

The hotel has 2 restaurants on property, a cute little bistro, and a nice sit-down dinner spot and of course a bar. At the bar, they do a fun little raffle daily for prices throughout the hotel which included a resort t-shirt, a bottle of wine, and an hour-long massage in their spa. Unfortunately, I didn’t win. 🙂

Transportation

If you do want to go into town The Ridge Tahoe provides a free shuttle service that will take you back and forth. Parking can be hard to find so this is helpful when venturing out.

The Ridge Tahoe

There was so much to do on the property you really don’t need to leave! We really enjoyed our stay at The Ridge Tahoe. We’ve been to South Lake several times and I had no idea it was there! It is a beautiful property above the clouds away from all the hustle and bustle of downtown.

Until next time Tahoe! We will be back soon!
