Ok, let’s talk about life for a minute, how things change and how eating something quick and healthy can make such a huge difference in the whole day!
If you have been following me on my blog or Instagram for a while now you already know school is back in season for the girls and we’re getting used to all the daily routines again. I have to admit I didn’t want summer break to end but now that it has I’m feeling good about productive days and healthy routines. Work has been intensely busy these last few weeks. It’s a good thing the girls are occupied at school filling their brains with knowledge, giving me uninterrupted work time.
Getting out the door has always been a struggle, similar to herding cats or maybe snails. I say “let’s go” and they seem to go slower. Ha! How you parents with kids starting at 7:45 am do it, I have no idea, but my hat goes off to you! My girls don’t start until 8:30 and 8:40 am, thank goodness!
Anyway, we’re getting the whole routine down again and this year (so far, 3rd week in) it’s been so much easier!
What’s the key?
Waking up earlier than the kids to get myself ready BEFORE they wake up.
Waking them up 20 minutes earlier than I did last school year.
AND giving myself time to eat a healthy breakfast, even if it’s in the car.
The first 2 are a given, no explanation needed. As for breakfast, I can’t tell you how many days I’ve skipped breakfast because we’re in such a rush and I have a work meeting I can’t be late for so eating gets pushed back until lunch. Horrible, right?
The bottom line? EAT breakfast!
I was sent a package of thinkThin’s New Protein & Probiotics Hot Oatmeal and immediately thought easy breakfast I think I’ll actually like! Plus, it’s full of protein and probiotics, it’s actually healthy. Then I read “on the go”, it just got better! Simply fill with water up to the fill line, microwave for 60 seconds and toss it in the car, as I drive the girls to school it can sit for the required 4-5 minutes. Then I can eat! Having breakfast that’s healthy, easy and of course gluten free (I’m allergic to gluten) is such a life changer. I tried it and it really is good! The girls like it too!
