Being out in nature has always been one of my favorite things. In the Fall the cool crisp air and beauty of the untouched earth is breathtaking. We decided to take advantage of a nice sunny but cool day in November and go explore some of our new surroundings. Pat, me and the girls packed a picnic and set out for an adventure. We ended up at The Pinnacles National Park which isn’t far from where we live.
Pinnacles National Park was formed from volcanoes that erupted and the lava that flowed 23 million years ago, leaving amazing volcanic rock formations throughout the hills. It is truly breathtaking and lined with hiking trails and caves creating a perfect place to go exploring.
The hiking trail that we picked wasn’t too hard or long, perfect for our three year old.
It only took .7 miles of hiking to get to the caves. Piper loved walking through the dark twists and turns. I was a little nervous with Kenzie on my back but we went slow and were extremely cautious of our surroundings. When we came out the other side we found the most beautiful reservoir and took a break to have our picnic.
The world creates some amazing natural things, I love that we had the opportunity to show Piper some of its beauty and that she was so into it. We spent a good amount of time looking at the rock formations finding animals, faces, and objects within them.

Pat and I took turns carrying Kenzie on our backs in our Infantino front or rear facing carrier, and towards the end of our hike took turns holding Piper. We were both really impressed Piper hiked almost 2 miles all on her own! Almost every day since our excursion to The Pinnacles she has asked if we can go hiking again. It was the perfect family adventure and I can’t wait to do go back and try out a different trail!
