Have your kids started school yet? Mine start on Monday! While we’re soaking in as much summer fun these last few days we’re also getting back to school ready. We received some fun back to school items from Babble Boxx which have been helping us to get excited about school again after an amazing summer break.

What do you need to get back to school ready?
Thankfully, 1st grade around here does not require the purchase of a large list of school supplies. The kids do need a few necessities like a good full-size backpack, lunch box, and water bottle. Other than that it’s just some fun extras that help start the year off right.
Here are a few things we’re loving for school days
Backpack
Whose kids love Justice? Sparkles are a girl’s best friend (at least when she’s 6!) Justice sent the most sparkly backpack I have ever seen, and you better believe my 6-year-old is in love with this Mermaid Flip Sequin Backpack! The shoulder straps are padded making carrying heavy loads more comfortable. The special loop to add your favorite key chains and customize your style is my favorite part. The flip sequins in a mermaid scale design is Piper’s.
Cute Comfy Scissors
Perfect for cutting all those tiny pieces of paper I find throughout the day. Just kidding, kinda. But really, these 5” Kids Jellies Pointed Scissors from Westcott are perfect for the classroom. They are the only brand of scissors that have gel handles making them extra squishy and comfy for kids learning to control scissors. Made for 5+
First aid kits
I plan on gifting these to my daughter classroom so they are prepared for any bumps or bruises. They are great to keep around the playground, in your home or even in the car. I have first aid kits in every corner of my life. They come in handy with active kids!
- Medibuddy First Aid Kit: includes 50 items perfect for backpacks!
-
Little Buddy Antibacterial Wipes: 32 gentle antibacterial wipes perfect for cleaning hands and minor wounds. You can never have too many wipes!
-
Cool it buddy – Instant ice packs: Just in case you bump your head. These are great to have on hand!

Maglites
Just in case the power goes out? We love our Maglites and keep them in just about every room in the house. Might as well have one in the classroom too! I keep the mini Maglite on my keychain and now Piper has one on her backpack loop.

A new book to read together
Storytime before bed is my favorite time of day. We leave all technology in another room and take turns reading stories together. We’re excited to start reading Merci Suarez Changes Gears. A relatable story about how friendship and family dynamics change over time. This book is geared towards middle schoolers, but we’re going to give it a chance.

Perfect for Lunchtime
Freezable Lunch Bag
This lunch bag from Packit is also a cooler! No ice packs needed! Perfect for keeping your kid’s lunches fresh. You stick the entire lunch box right in the freezer so it’s cool and ready to go on-demand. And the pattern is super cute. Unicorns? Yes, please!
Mod Lunch Box
This customizable bento-style lunchbox fits perfectly in PackIt freezable bags. You aren’t stuck with the same structured bento box day after day. The lid and dividers are leach resistant as long as the box is kept flat.
Reusable Snack Pack
Less waste and a cute pouch to bring snacks from home. I’m a huge advocate for reusable items! No ice packs needed for this one either! When Piper doesn’t have this filled with snacks at school we’ll be carrying it around in my purse for weekend activities.
MyWish4U Lunch Notes from Me
These lunch notes are such a cute idea. These educational notes are such a fun addition to any lunch box. Now that she can read, I can’t wait to put little messages in Piper’s lunch box. Knowing that she’ll get a little note filled with love at lunchtime warms my heart and hopefully will warm hers as well. The back of each note is left blank so you can write your own message.
They come in 3 different packs including:
- Facts & Funnies
- Riddles & Giggles
- Wacky Facts & Laughs – Wild and fascinating facts
Only 4.99 for a pack of 101 notes. Available nationwide at all Target stores July-September in the Back-to-School section!
We’re starting to feel school ready! Even though I’m so not ready for summer to come to an end! The girls are excited to get back to school, see their friends daily, and learn! Are you ready?
