Is it just mine, or do your kids eat better when one, they help cook, and two, food is on a board appearing to be a “snack”? Add Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and I’m pretty much guaranteed they’ll eat a good meal. I love putting together what we call snack lunches with nutritious choices. Lately, we’ve been making lunch boards. The girls can make their own sandwiches or eat each item separately. The nutritional value is still there, and they feel in control of their choices which helps promote independence and good nutrition.
Want to make your own lunch board?
Here’s are some options to use for your board:
- Oroweat Organic White made with Whole Wheat Bread
- Sliced Deli Meat or Chicken Breast
- Sliced Cheese
- Fruit (my girls love all berries, sliced apples, and bananas, we change it up depending on what’s in season)
- Peanut Butter or nut butter
- Avocado
- Hard-Boiled Eggs
- Spreads such as mustard and mayonnaise
Have fun with different ingredients and experiment with combinations! Reinvent the traditional peanut butter and jelly sandwich by replacing the jelly with fresh fruit or the peanut butter with almond butter. It’s a fun way to turn lunchtime into a nutritious activity to do together.
Why we love Oroweat Organic White made with Whole Wheat Bread
My kids love it, and they are picky eaters, plus I feel good about giving them Oroweat Organic White made with Whole Wheat Bread. The bread is made with organic whole grains as its number 1 ingredient, is a good source of vitamins A, D, and E, and is plant-based. It’s USDA Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified AND they even freshly bake their bread using renewable wind energy.
Oh, I can’t forget Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are proud to be on the packaging which helps my kids want it even more. Anything with Disney’s Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse wins in Kenzie’s 5-year-old heart.
Both my girls are very particular when it comes to food. Kenzie likes stronger flavors than Piper. Both girls love the soft and smooth texture of Oroweat Organic White made with Whole Wheat Bread and I love that I’m helping provide them with great nutrition. These lunch boards are the perfect way to give my girls good and smart choices for lunch.
