How Does Your Garden Grow : Planting a Vegetable Garden

This post is sponsored by Miracle-Gro but all opinions are my own.

Spring is in the air! I love Spring, one of the main reasons is because we can start our vegetable garden back up. Gardening has been something I've held close to my heart since I was a kid. It reminds me of my mom. My siblings and I used to garden with our mom for hours on end, pulling weeds, removing snails, and deadheading the flowers. Anything that brings her memory back puts a smile on my face. Now that I have my own children I've been carrying on the tradition with the help of my husband. Nurturing plants to produce the food we eat and watching the fruits and veggies grow is so much fun, especially with the kids. My daughters love to be involved in all of it from planting to picking!

We have 2 raised beds on the side of our house and this year Pat built a mini greenhouse to help start seeds and keep plants warm in the early months of our vegetable garden.

Growing a Vegetable Garden is Easy with Miracle-Gro

I've learned a few things over the years from my mom, trial and error, and of course a bit of research.

The soil matters

If you want to produce good fruit and vegetables don't just use the dirt from your backyard. Miracle-Gro Raised Bed Soil has been our go-to when it comes to our garden. We've tried to skip adding new soil before and ended up having to tear everything out and start over.  Just buy the soil, it's worth it!

Gardening with the kids

If you have kids, let them help where they can. My girls love to water, pull weeds, and pick ripe fruit. They often eat our strawberries before I even see them (I did teach them to wash it first). Growing their own fruit and vegetables makes them excited and proud. Creating a vegetable garden together is priceless, a memory I'll always remember with my mom and now my girls!vegetable garden in raised beds

Miracle-Gro soil and plant food make gardening so much easier! Now to watch our garden grow!
