FAMILY

And Now You Are Six :: Piper Leanne

It’s becoming a tradition for me to write a letter to my daughters on their birthdays. Although I missed Piper’s 5th, because we were in the middle of moving (sorry Pipey), I’m picking it back up for 6! So here you go sweet girl!

Your letter…

Dear Piper,

Today you are SIX!  We can no longer count your age on one hand, SIX! I am shocked at how fast these last 6 years have sped through time and am frightened I’ll be saying that every year as time goes by. Feel free to slow down just a little.

At six you have your first loose tooth, and the big tooth is growing in behind it. The dentist says not to worry about it but you’ll need braces one day. CORRECTION! You LOST YOUR FIRST TOOTH, today, on your sixth birthday right after I left your cupcake celebration at school! You are so excited about your first visit from the tooth fairy and I am too!

You laugh uncontrollably when you play tickle fight, daddy jail, or jump on your bed with your sister, and that laugh is the most contagious thing ever!  You’ve got cartwheels down and are so close to doing the splits, gymnastics class is paying off, my determined little athlete. You are definitely mommy’s girl and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

There is a kindness in your heart that is rare, always putting everyone’s feelings before your own. This is a quality most newly 6-year-olds don’t have and it makes you one amazing sister and friend!

Somehow you manage to hear everything and remember it all. I really mean everything! Your dad and I have to be careful not to spoil surprises or talk about grownup things if you are in the house, somehow you always ask what we are talking about or what “that” means.

You are happiest at the craft table with a pile of blank paper, markers, scissors, and glue. Always creating some sort of art. If you aren’t crafting you’re riding your bike or scooter outside with your friends. Music is in your soul and I love how you sign to every song, even if you don’t know the words. You turn music on in every room you walk into and would much rather sing while doing 300 piece jigsaw puzzles than watch tv.

Yearly Birthday Letter

At bedtime, we read 2 stories and you’ve started reading a book to me too. You’ve always been a such a smart girl with amazingly advanced vocabulary for your age.

One of my favorite things about you is your random requests for hugs all day long day. I hope you never stop asking!

The moment you came into our lives I knew you would make the world a better place, if for no other reason then making me the happiest person alive, by making me a mother.  You are such an amazing child, I look forward to continuing to watch you grow and move mountains! Even if that means I have to come to grips with the fact that you will keep getting bigger by the day. Piper Leanne, you are so loved by everyone you come across and especially by me, your dada, and little sissy. You complete our world.

Love and hugs and kisses,

Mama
