Last week we had the opportunity to spend a few nights in downtown Chicago in the most incredible hotel. The Swissotel Chicago was a dream. I had to pinch myself a few times to make sure I wasn’t actually dreaming. This place was more like a luxury apartment than a hotel. Here’s why we loved staying at the Swissotel Chicago and why you should book it for your next visit to the city.
Location Location Location
The Swissotel is located right next to the Chicago Riverwalk in the heart of downtown. You can walk to Navy Pier, Maggie Daily Park, restaurants, tons of iconic city sights, and several museums with ease.
The Rooms
The rooms were more than perfect for our family. We stayed in a duplex suite and had two connecting rooms on the 41st floor. There was more than enough space for the 5 of us. I wouldn’t mind living there it was that spacious.
What makes the Swissotel Chicago stand out from other hotels? The Kid Suite option!
I’ve never seen anything like the Kids Suite option, and we’ve been to a lot of places. Swissotel Chicago filled our suite with age-appropriate toys and games for the girls. When we walked in and saw everything just for them, the girls’ jaws dropped in excitement. There was a play tent sent up with Legos, Barbies, and beanbags to sit on. Plus so many fun games to play.
The girl’s bedroom had a coloring set and storybooks for bedtime, along with heart-shaped pillows that smelled like candy and the cutest kid’s bedding. Their bathroom came complete with bath toys and bubbles to blow while in the tub.
The Duplex Suite
This suite is two levels and is nothing short of luxurious, with a full dining room, living room, office space, and half bath on the first floor. My brother stayed in the connecting room on the bottom floor.
His king-size bedroom was amazing on its own, with a stunning view of the Chicago River.
Head up the stairs to a loft with another gorgeous view, the most comfortable king-size bed I’ve ever slept in, and a huge bathroom. The top-level connects to the girls’ room, so they are close enough to keep an eye on. We just left the connecting door propped open, so we had access to them at all times.
The Views
The views of the city from each window in the Swissotel Chicago were incredible. Being on the 40th and 41st floor makes for an amazing view, we could see Lake Michigan from one window and Navy Pier from another.
We could have stayed in the hotel the whole time and been happy it was that good. After exploring the city all day we played Hedbanz, Twister, and Guess Who with my brother and the kids. It was the perfect way to end the day. We are looking forward to our next trip to Chicago already!
