Getting the Kids Involved in Party Prep & Planning + A Bona GIVEAWAY!

Piper’s birthday is coming up and she wants a party. We haven’t done birthday parties for a couple years, instead, we opted for family adventures. But SIX is quickly approaching and Piper is dead set on a fairy princess tea party with her closest friends from school. Parties around here become more of an undertaking than they probably should, I’m a bit of a perfectionist. Her 1st birthday turned into a 60+ people affair with a balloon artist, face painter, and popcorn machine, every detail was thoroughly planned out from the invitations to the take-home treats. It was an amazing party but a lot of work.

This year we’ve decided Piper can have her party but she has to help with all the details. Which means she gets to help prep by playing a part in planning the decorations, the menu, games, goodie bags, and also the cleaning.  By getting her involved she’ll have a better understanding of what it takes to throw a party and she’ll have a deeper appreciation for it.

Lucky for us both of our kids love to help, I think at this age most of them do. The more we include the girls the more they enjoy chores like vacuuming up a mess, helping put away dishes, and matching socks. It’s together time which makes it bonding time.
