Our weekends have been filled with family time these last few weeks, and they have been perfect. Simple moments create the best memories. I’m sure these are the things our children will remember most once they are grown. Fragments of laughter and pieces of images in their minds of that place they once visited with their parents when they were young. I have many of these memories from my own childhood. I find myself recognizing places I thought I’d never been before. Casa de Fruta is one of those places.
Casa de Fruta is worth a stop if you are in the Hollister area, on a road trip through the Central Coast, or even a quick day trip from Northern California. If you have kids it is a great place to visit.
We don’t live far from Casa de Fruta, so we go often for an hour or two. My daughters love to pan for gemstones in the sluice and ride the Carousel and train. I’m all about the candy shop and watching peacocks wander around.
But there is so much more than that.
There is history, an enormous fruit stand, a gift shop, wine tasting (I’ve yet to do here), a restaurant, old playgrounds, an RV park, camping and probably a ton more that I don’t know about yet.
All the fun a young child could ask for right in one spot without crazy lines.
Turtles roam free in a huge pond on the property. There are tons of them! We all love to watch them swim and try to spot the baby turtles in the water.
Monkey bars always make my biggest little happy. She lives for monkey bars, maybe she was a monkey in a past life. hehe
Moments create magic. These are the days I never want to forget.
