Secret Valentine’s

How Our New Valentine’s Day Tradition Started

When we first moved into our home in a new somewhat unfamiliar town we got Boo-ed. I’m not sure if you’ve heard of this cute tradition before? I hadn’t! It was around Halloween (hence the boo), someone rang the doorbell and ran leaving a small box of treats at the front door with a note saying we’d been Boo-ed. Getting Boo-ed was such a sweet welcome to the neighborhood. It actually made tears come to my eyes when getting that little box I immediately felt that our family had made the right decisions moving into this quaint small town. I still don’t know who it was that ‘Boo-ed’ us, but whoever you are, thank you! This simple act of kindness helped me and my family transition into our new life here a little more gracefully.

I was thinking about how to make people feel loved and welcome like this simple box of treats made Piper and me feel that chilly October night and decided to do the same thing for the month of February with a Valentine theme box of goodies and trinkets.

A fun Valentine's Day Tradition to do with your kids! Piper and I headed on our mission to the store and found these adorable little mailboxes. We bought a couple of them and stuffed them with little Valentine-themed goodies, some stickers, stamps, bracelets (nothing expensive) and Piper’s favorite, delicious individual packs of YumEarth Organic Gummy Bears.

It was so much fun to create these fun packages and then drive over to a few houses and leave the Valentine Treats on the doorsteps of some friends! Piper was ecstatic she loved every part of this adventure, from putting the boxes together to surprise her friends with a special February treat! It turned into a mother-daughter bonding experience. We giggled the whole time! Kenzie too! She’s just too young to really know what is going on 🙂
